Rick Warren's five New Years resolutions for church leaders:

1. When someone serves you, be understanding not demanding.
2. When somebody disappoints you, be gentle and not judgmental.
3. When someone disagrees with you, be tender without surrender.
4. When someone corrects you, be teachable rather than unreachable.
5. When somebody hurts you, be an actor not a reactor.

Losing While Winning

John Paul Jones is regarded as The Father of the American Navy, and rightly so given his heroic courage in battle and his devotion to America's struggle for independence. Yet sadly, Jones alienated himself from the country he loved, dying penniless and alone in France at the age of 45. Why did the war hero's story end so dismally?
